Billionaire offers huge reward for proof of life after death
A billionaire is offering a huge reward for anyone who can find proof of life after death.
Robert Bigelow set up the Bigelow Institute for Consciousness Studies after the passing of his wife Diane last year and has challenged people to submit papers on the topic to claim a prize of $500,000.
For decades he has also supported serious investigations into consciousness and manifestations of unusual phenomena that are not yet understood by science.
BICS explained that they hope the essays focus on hard scientific evidence “beyond a reasonable doubt” and beyond religion and philosophy that life goes on after death and asks for documents supporting the case.
According to the institute’s website there is little research and funding devoted to investigating the survival of human consciousness beyond death — “perhaps the most important and fundamental question facing our species”.

The website states: “The purpose of the BICS essay awards is to raise the public awareness for the Survival of Human Consciousness topic and to stimulate research.
“The goal of the essay contest is to award contestants for writing papers that summarise the best evidence available for the survival of human consciousness after permanent bodily death.”
BICS has assembled a competent board of directors with deep experience in the topic to provide advice on the strategic direction and priorities of the Institute.
Judges and directors span journalists and authors, forensic neurologists, theoretical physicists, medical doctors and academics who specialise in the survival of consciousness philosophy and religious thought statistics, anomalies and molecular biology.
The BICS essay competition will be judged by five renowned experts.
The winning essay will receive a cool $500,000 in prize money, with second place taking home $300,000 and third $150,000.
Essays must be received by August 1 with winners announced on November 1, 2021.
