Police seize $1m of ice in Tasmania mail
Two people in Tasmania are facing drug trafficking charges after $1 million worth of ice was discovered in the mail.
About one kilogram of the illicit drug was allegedly concealed in packages which were seized by police at a southern mail processing centre on Wednesday.
Lisa Lyn Harwood, 32, and Joshua James Barda, 25, who are both from Hobart, appeared in Hobart Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Harwood was remanded in custody, while Barda was granted bail and is due to appear in court in August.
Police allege the packages came from Victoria.
"This seizure takes ... methylamphetamine out of the hands of vulnerable Tasmanians," Tasmania Police Commander Tony Cerritelli said.
