US teen posted Snapchat video before apparent suicide
A teenager posted a Snapchat video of herself contemplating suicide moments before falling from a car park of a US shopping centre, it has been revealed.
Hailey Nailor died in an apparent suicide at the Danbury Fair shopping centre in Connecticut over the weekend, her family confirmed to the Connecticut Post.
The 16-year-old Danbury High School student posted a video to social media app before the tragic incident.
“Before she did, she recorded herself contemplating if she should go through with it. She sadly did go through with it,” Luis Lopez said.
Mr Lopez said he became aware of the teen’s apparent suicide after screenshots of the Snapchat post with insensitive comments by another girl were posted to social media.
The 18-year-old immediately emailed Danbury High School principal Dan Donovan.
“He responded within seconds and said something will be done about it,” he said.
Superintendent of Schools Dr Sal Pascarella confirmed in a statement to the school’s Facebook page that “an individual posted inappropriate information regarding the deceased online”.
Dr Pascarella said the school was working with police to have the information removed. The name of the individual has not been released.
