Anthony Bourdain smiles in last photos before death
Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain posed for photographs with admirers just days before his death.
The 61-year-old appeared relaxed as he smiled alongside staff at French restaurant Wistub La Petite Venise on Wednesday.
“A beautiful souvenir,” cook Alexis Schonstein wrote on Instagram.
Bourdain had been filming in the historic Alsace region all week for his CNN series, Parts Unknown.
In his last post to his Instagram account, the renowned chef had snapped an image of a hearty meal, captioning it with a tongue-in-cheek, “light lunch”.
The post has since been flooded with thousands of tributes from his fans following the shock news of his death by suicide yesterday.
Bourdain was found unresponsive by friend and long-time travel companion Eric Ripert in his hotel room at the luxurious Le Chambard.
Ripert described the chef as his “best friend” and one of the “great storytellers of our time”.
“He was an exceptional human being, so inspiring and generous,” he said in a statement to PEOPLE Magazine.
“I wish him peace. My love and prayers are with his family, friends and loved ones.”
