$400,000 Lamborghini written-off after ploughing into wall
A $A400,000 Lamborghini has been written-off after ploughing into a wall and tree following a supercar demonstration in London.
The driver of the Huracan Performante was revving the engine before he took off speeding down the road – the vehicle can reach speeds of 321km/h.
Footage shows the Lamborghini skidding out of control as it veers towards parked vehicles before spinning more than 90 degrees onto the pavement where it smashes into the wall and tree.
The mangled wreckage was taken away on a recovery vehicle with smoke pouring out of its rear.
Event organiser and local supercar dealership HR Owen said it was shocked to hear of the incident.
“We are concerned to hear about the accident which happened to the car on its way home after it had left the event,” it said in a statement.
“HR Owen takes safety extremely seriously and puts in place every possible precaution, with the event itself on Sunday being fully risk assessed and coordinated with the police.”
Police confirmed they were called to the event, although no arrests have been made.
The man who captured to incident on camera said the vehicle was likely going to be a write-off.
“It’s sad to see such a beautiful car go to waste,” Thomas Melsens told The Evening Standard.
“Visibility was good but the road was dusty — that might be why he lost control. It’s fortunate no one was hurt.
“I can’t imagine them being able to repair the car.” Another witness said the driver was visibly shaken from the crash.
“I’m pretty sure he was crying when he got out. It was easily a write-off.”
