Spider-Man May be out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Spider-Man May Be out ofthe Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a series of tweets posted on their officialTwitter account, Sony addressed the recentreports of their conflict with Disney.According to Sony, it was Disney's decision to pullproducer Kevin Feige from the "Spider-Man" franchise. .Much of today's news about Spider-Man hasmischaracterized recent discussions aboutKevin Feige's involvement in the franchise. Weare disappointed, but respect Disney's decisionnot to have him continue as a lead producerof our next live action Spider-Man film, Sony Films, via statement.Sony also claimed that Feige's departureis due to his busy schedule with Disney. .[We] understand that the many newresponsibilities that Disney has givenhim – including all their newly added Marvelproperties – do not allow time for him towork on IP they do not own, Sony Films, via statement. The statement contradicts initial reports that saidFeige was forced out by Sony, due to the twostudios inability to negotiate financial terms. .Feige served as a lead producer on both thestandalone "Spider-Man" movies and "Avengers"movies that Spider-Man appeared in.Without a working deal in place between Sony andDisney, Spider-Man will no longer crossover into the MCU.The "Spider-Man" franchise is currently Sony's mostvaluable brand, with two more movies scheduledfor future release, regardless of Feige's involvement.
