'He's a bigger doughnut than I thought': Nick Kyrgios feuds with Boris Becker after being branded a 'rat'

Nick Kyrgios has been involved in a heated Twitter spat with six-time Grand Slam champion Boris Becker after the Aussie was labelled a “rat”.

Kyrgios has called out several tennis players over their lack of care during the coronavirus pandemic, including Alexander Zverev who was filmed partying despite saying he would self-isolate after coming into contact with people who tested positive for COVID-19.

“So I wake up and I see more controversial things happening all over the world,” Kyrgios said in an Instagram post.

“But one that stuck out for me was seeing Sascha Zverev again man, again, again, how selfish can you be? How selfish can you be?”

The statement did not bode well with Becker who took to Twitter to confront the Aussie tennis champion.

“We all live in the pandemic called (COVID-19. It’s terrible and it killed to many lives...” former world number one Becker tweeted on Tuesday night, tagging the 25-year-old in the post.

“We should protect our families/loved ones and follow the guidelines but still don’t like #rats.

The world number 40 bit back, writing: “Rats? For holding someone accountable? Strange way to think of it champion, I’m just looking out for people.”

“WHEN my family and families all over the world have respectfully done the right thing. And you have a goose waving his arms around, imma say something.”

“Boris Becker is a bigger doughnut than I thought. Can hit a volley, obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed though.”

The heated discussion reignited again when Becker critiqued Kyrgios on his tennis playing ability.

“I really would like to see (Kyrgios) fulfil his potential and win a grand slam! He would be an incredible role model for for the youth of the world addressing the issues of equality/race/heritage! Man up buddy and deliver!” Becker said.

Kyrgios again hit back at Becker.

“Why are you now talking about tennis? It has nothing to do with tennis? How about the dude who you are defending mans up and gives us some sort of explanation? Not another average management apology,” he tweeted.
