Awards day ends successful footy season
THE South Perth United Football Club’s ended their successful season on a high note.
The club held its Junior Awards Day on Sunday September 22, with about 120 players in attendance and their families.
Held at the Challenger Reserve in Manning, South Perth mayor Sue Doherty was invited to show her support.
Club secretary Sony Sindhe applauded the players and their commitment and performance over the year.
“We had had a huge down turn over the years in our club up until last year,’’ she said.
“This year we have had young and energetic committee members make a great deal of difference and bring local communities together.”
Club president Simon Baptista said the club prided themselves on being a diverse community with a great social atmosphere.
“Our diverse community includes our juniors, ladies, over 35s and men’s teams,’’ he said.
“Our goal is to consolidate this position over the next few years and bridge the gap between juniors and seniors and integrate an all abilities team.”
The Junior Awards was a fun day for all, with kids entertainment and a sausage sizzle.
