Women, child injured in WA jetty collapse
Three people, including two women and a child, have been airlifted to hospital after part of a jetty collapsed at Rottnest Island this morning.
The two women and the primary school-aged boy were fishing on Army Jetty near Thomson Bay around 6.20am when part of the structure collapsed.
WA Police said the women were able to get to shore safely, while it is understood the boy was trapped, sparking a rescue operation.
A fourth person is believed to have escaped injury, however police are waiting to confirm how many people were on the jetty at the time of the incident.
It also understood that several bystanders also pitched in to help with the rescue operation.
All three sustained multiple injuries, including broken bones.
The boy has been airlifted to Perth Children's Hospital where he remains in a stable condition, while the women were flown to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.
