Unlicensed driver leads police on wild chase through parkland
An unlicensed driver has led police on a wild chase through Sydney’s west, with the pursuit captured on video from above.
Police attempted stop a Nissan Maxima on Cowpasture Road in Bossley Park at 11am yesterday after it allegedly failed to stop at a red light.
The driver then lead police on a seven-kilometre pursuit through Bonnyrigg, Edensor Park and St Johns Park.
At one point, the Nissan mounted the footpath on New Leaf Parade in Bonnyrigg and drove into parkland.
The chase was captured on video by the police helicopter as the car then travelled through Fairfield and Liverpool.
The car entered parkland again in Edensor Park before it became wedged against a timber bollard.
A 40-year-old Bossley Park man was arrested as he got out of the car.
He was taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with stealing from a person, dangerous driving and pursuit charges, a never licensed person driving a vehicle on a road, driving in a manner dangerous, negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm), and not giving particulars to another driver.
Police will allege the same man also stole a handbag from a 47-year-old woman in Bonnyrigg on July 4.
The man appeared in Fairfield Local Court today and was refused bail to appear again on August 7.
