Teens tried to save mate after ute driven by boy rolled
A group of teenage boys desperately tried to save their Aussie Rules teammate after he was crushed when a ute rolled during a camping trip on a rural NSW property.
Seven boys had been travelling in a two-vehicle convoy on a property in Yerong Creek, near Wagga Wagga, when a Toyota Hilux ute left the road and rolled about 10:45am today.
NSW Police said two boys travelling in the back of the ute were thrown out, with the vehicle landing on a 14-year-old. He died at the scene.
The driver, also 14, and second passenger only sustained minor injuries.
They were taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital.
The rest of the boys, all part of a local football team, have been taken to another house.
Police are investigating the crash.
