Sydney axe attacker gets more jail time
A Sydney transgender woman who attacked three people with an axe has had her jail term substantially increased by the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal.
Evie Amati attacked two strangers inside a 7-Eleven at Enmore and then chased down a nearby pedestrian in January 2017.
She was jailed for nine years with a non-parole period of four-and-a-half years.
But on Monday, the appeal court allowed a crown challenge and increased her term to 14 years with a non-parole period of eight years.
