NSW man wins $100,000 playing lotto, welcomes arrival of baby boy on the same day

A New South Wales man has claimed a $100,000 lottery win and become a father on the same day.

The unnamed individual had bought a ticket because his wife was due to give birth on Monday, the day of the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw.

"I actually bought the ticket because our baby was due and we were feeling lucky. Turns out we really were,” he said.

The winning ticket earned the man a very handy prize. Importantly, his wife gave birth to a healthy boy.

"We had a baby and a win all in one day. It was an incredible day all round,” he said.

“It hasn’t sunk in. I just can’t believe it, $100,000.

“We haven’t celebrated yet, but having a win and a baby, that’s perfect enough.”

The man said the windfall "takes so much pressure off", adding he would planning to put it towards a new house.

Earlier this week an unemployed security guard from Armadale who had fallen on hard times because of the COVID-19 crisis claimed Tuesday night’s $5.8 million division one Oz Lotto prize.

The lucky winner, WA’s 43rd division one success for the year, said he’d be buying his brother a new house.

“I’m also going to go back to school and finish my commerce degree and learn how to manage my money,” he said.

“My mum will be getting a new car and I’ll buy myself a house and also set up my kids.”
