Emergency alert for NSW Hunter Region
Two out-of-control fires are raging near the NSW Hunter Region.
An emergency warning was issued this afternoon for Weston, 11 kilometres north-east of Cessnock as fire burns along a section of Hospital Road.
Firefighters from the Rural Fire Brigade and Fire and Rescue are working to slow the blaze, but locals are being urged to seek shelter if safe to do so.
Another out-of-control fire is burning along Richardson Road in Campvale, about 50 kilometers away from the Weston one.
It is moving in an easterly direction towards Salt Ash teraing through more than eight hectares of brush.
The Rural Fire Service is warning people to only evacuate if safe to do so.
An emergency text message has been sent to all locals in the vicinity and people who live in the area who aren't home, are warned they should not return until further notice.
Waterbombing aircrafts are currently working to control both blazes and ground crews are dealing with strong winds spreading the fire.
More to come.
