Man dies after boat capsizes off mid-north NSW coast
A 51-year old man has died after his boat capsized off the mid north NSW coast.
The man was thrown into the water when his 3m aluminium vessel hit a wave at Nambucca Heads at 6.40am, police said.
Marine Area Command police, the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Service, Surf Live Saving NSW and NSW Ambulance paramedics were called.
The man's body was found almost an hour later 500m away.
Rescuers tried to resuscitate the man, but he could not be saved.
"Whilst under extremely tense circumstances emergency services worked closely to try and save the man but despite their best efforts there was nothing they could do," NSW Ambulance Inspector Brendon Dean said.

"It's a devastating incident for everyone involved. What started as something so simple like a day on the water has unfortunately turned to tragedy."
The boat will be examined and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
Police reminded boaters to wear lifejackets and monitor weather conditions.
