'Like losing him again': Son's ashes stolen in break-in
A mother who came home to find her house ransacked by thieves was heartbroken when she realised they had taken her most precious possession - the ashes of her son.
Adriana Buccianti's son Daniel died after taking drugs at a music festival in 2012.
She said having his ashes stolen was like losing him all over again.
"No different," she said.
"It was horrifying."
The thieves also stole jewellery, shoes, electronics and photos of her late father from the house in Wollert in Melbourne's north.
But after a heartbreaking 20 hours, she received a call from the police.
They had found Daniel's ashes, and her photos of her father, in Melton, an hour away.
A woman had found the box of ashes and the photos dumped in a recycling bin and called the police.
Her other belongings are still missing, but Ms Buccianti was glad to have Daniel home agan.
"I'm very grateful," she said.
