
Ipswich Grammar School evacuated after receiving phone threat
A prestigious Queensland school was evacuated today after the facility received a threat via a telephone message.
All staff and students were removed from the premises before 9am and emergency services were called to the scene.
“Due to a telephone threat this morning, all staff and boys have been evacuated,” a Facebook post from the school said.
“Queensland Police are on site and assisting us with managing the situation. Updates will continue on Facebook until the situation is resolved.”
Queensland Police officers are currently on-site at the school investigating the threat and are working with staff members, a spokesperson told 9NEWS.
The nature of the threat remains unknown.
Ipswich Grammar School is "a Prep to Year 12 independent day and boarding school" for boys and the oldest grammar school in Queensland at 154-years-old, according to its website.
