Funeral service to be held for teen found dead in barrel
A funeral service will be held today for slain Brisbane teenager Larissa Beilby, two weeks after her body was found in a barrel.
Family and friends will gather at noon to remember the 16-year-old, who was allegedly murdered by 34-year-old Zlatko Sikorsky.
Sikorsky is accused of killing the teen and leaving her body in a barrel on the back of a ute he dumped at a Gold Coast property.
He then fled, sparking a huge manhunt, but police caught up with him at a Sunshine Coast unit, where a 28-hour siege unfolded.
He eventually surrendered and was charged with murder, torture, deprivation of liberty and interfering with a corpse. He's also accused of attempting to murder another woman.
He also faces 16 other charges including weapons and drug offences.
Those who loved Larissa held a memorial service for her last weekend, with Deanna Beilby saying the loss of her sister under such horrific circumstances had left an enormous hole in her heart.
Deanne will join their grieving father Peter and brother Nathan at today’s service at Bridgeman Downs for a celebration of Larissa's life.
Earlier this week, a memorial was held to remember Larissa in Strathpine Park.
Larissa's sister, Deanna, was among several people who read moving tributes to the teenager.
"I'll miss everything about you Riss and my heart is broken," she said.
"I'll spend every day loving you and remembering you as the gorgeous smart cheeky girl we knew, I can't wait to see you again, fly high angel."
Brother Nathan, added, "All I can really say is, I love you Larissa, so does everyone here, a lot of people do and always will."
Sikorsky is due to appear in court on September 3.
