Fifth man charged over fatal Sydney stabbing

A fifth man has been charged with murder over the stabbing of Greek national Kevin Kouris, who died in a Sydney home during a break-in.

Police were called to a home on Langton St in Riverstone just after midnight on May 24 after reports Greek national Kevin Kourtis had been fatally stabbed during a break-in.

Paramedics at the scene also treated a 34-year-old woman for minor injuries, while a 42-year-old woman also at the home was not injured.

Following an extensive investigation, detectives arrested a 21-year-old man at a home in St Clair about 8am on Wednesday, August 12.

He was taken to Riverstone police station and charged with murder and accessory after the fact to murder.

The man was refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court later on Wednesday.

A 20-year-old man and three boys, two aged 17 and one aged 16, have also been charged with murder over the alleged stabbing and remain before the courts.

A GoFundMe set up to help with Mr Kourtis’s funeral costs revealed the 39-year-old had moved back to Australia eight years ago and started his own concreting business.

“Kevin was hard working and was kind hearted, He would give you his last dollar if you needed it,” the post read.

“He didn‘t deserve such a tragic ending to his life.”

Inquiries are continuing.
