Father and son's high-speed joyride ends in death
A father and son's high-speed joyride through Geelong has ended in carnage with the dad killed as he clinged to the outside of a moving car.
The young driver, Brandon, 20, is accused of leaving his 40-year-old father Michael Gliddon for dead, trying to flee the crash scene on foot.
Their Kia crashed into a Volkswagen in Bell Park last night shortly after 6pm.
The force of the impact was so powerful the car careered through scrub and into a car park.
The vehicle then rolled down the road, ending up 160 metres from the point of impact.
Mr Gliddon died at the scene.
Police allege Brandon ran away from the crash but was arrested a short time after by local police.
The woman driving the Volkswagen was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating and would like to speak to anyone who saw a black Kia Sorrento travelling between Hamlyn Heights and Bells Park with a man hanging onto the side of the car.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
