Desperate Perth search for missing war veteran
The parents of a Perth war veteran have issued an urgent appeal to help find their missing son.
Brock Hewitt, 29, suffers from post-traumatic stress after serving three years in Afghanistan.
On Monday afternoon he told his parents he was going fishing at South Mole in Fremantle, and was seen at Boating Camping Fishing Butler buying an esky and stubby holder.
Police know he visited a hardware store in Yanchep at 4.45pm and a short time later was seen at a service station.
He then travelled in an easterly direction towards the intersection of Indian Ocean Drive and Wanneroo Road.
His family are stricken with worry – its been almost a week without any contact.
“This is way out of character, this is just not our Brock,” said his mother Jan Hewitt.
“Yeah, come home mate, everything is good, just come home,” pleaded his father Rick Hewitt.
Brock flew home early from his FIFO job and has recently separated from his partner, who has custody of their 18-month-old son.
Friends of the Perth war veteran have been searching as far north as Jurien Bay, along with other popular fishing spots.
Anyone who has seen Mr Hewitt is urged to call Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 and keep an eye out for a white 2014 Nissan Navara utlity with a canopy, registration 1GDR 069.
