Boy 'attacked with wooden spoon and dog leash'
A man and woman have been charged with allegedly assaulting a young boy in Sydney’s west overnight.
Around 6pm yesterday, a 12-year-old boy was presented to Blacktown Police Station with injuries to his hand and back.
Following an investigation by detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad, police will allege the pair assaulted the boy with a wooden spoon and a dog leash at a western Sydney home.
Both the man and the woman are known to the boy.
A passer-by noticed the injured boy outside the home where the alleged assault occurred and took him to the police station.
The boy was then taken to Westmead Children’s Hospital for treatment.
That night detectives attended the home around 2am where they arrested a 40-year-old man and a woman, also 40.
Both were charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and were served a provisional apprehended violence order.
The boy is now in the care of the Department of Family and Community Services.
