Apartments proposed for Edgewater and Warwick out for public comment
PLANS for a two-storey apartment complex in Edgewater, which were first proposed more than year ago, are again out for public comment.
The application for 14 units across 1 and 3 Chipala Court was first deferred by the Joondalup council in September 2017 then revised plans were refused by the Metro North-West Joint Development Assessment Panel (JDAP) in July and the council again in August.
The applicant has since appealed the JDAP’s decision to the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) and through this process, has revised the plans again.
They now propose 12 units across the two lots.
However it still seeks discretion for some design elements including the solid front fence exceeding 1.2m on Apalie Trail, increased building height, western boundary wall length and crossover width, reduced ground and upper floor setbacks and the removal of mature trees, which are taller than 3m.
The City of Joondalup is seeking feedback on the plans.
The SAT is then required to make a decision on the application, with the JDAP invited to review its initial decision to refuse the application at a meeting before January 25.
The City is also seeking feedback on plans for eight apartments at 4 Farne Close in Warwick.
It received the application for the two-storey development in July but was unable to assess it in time so the applicant has applied to the SAT to determine the outcome.
The City has since received amended plans that are now available for public viewing and comment.
Areas of discretion being sought include lot boundary setbacks, open space, site works and retaining walls.
Submissions for both applications are required before December 24 and will be considered as part of the overall decision-making process.
They can be emailed to [email protected], posted to PO Box 21, Joondalup WA 6919 or call 9400 4100.
The City still faces another SAT appeal for the 14 apartments proposed across 50 and 52 Littorina Avenue in Heathridge.
