Alleged shopping centre knife attacker named
The man accused of slashing a cleaner in the face in a vicious attack at the Parabanks Shopping Centre in Adelaide can now be named for the first time.
A secrecy order on the identity of 25-year-old Jai Penning was lifted in court today.
Mr Penning has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly ambushing Rovie Ferguson, 30, and slashing her with a knife last month.
Ms Ferguson had just finished cleaning the toilets at the centre when she was set upon by the stranger.
Police claim Mr Penning was caught on CCTV moments after the random attack, which left the worker with serious facial injuries.
Mr Penning remains in custody, but was too unwell to attend the hearing today.
He will face court next month.
