Two pedestrians hit after stepping in front of car on busy Adelaide street
Two women were hit by the same car on a busy Adelaide street last night.
One woman was left with significant head injuries when she was thrown into the air from the impact just after 10.15pm on the corner of Hindley and Rosina streets in Adelaide's popular party district.
Lined with restaurants and bars, the area was packed with people celebrating the start of the long weekend and football fans making their way from the Port Adelaide and Richmond game at Adelaide Oval.
Witnesses near the Dog and Duck Hotel said the two women stepped off the sidewalk into the path of the oncoming silver sedan.
"One of the girls was thrown into the air," Sam Luck told The Advertiser.
“She was in pretty bad shape. She would have been unconscious for a good two minutes.”
Witnesses said the windscreen was smashed and one woman's head was bleeding heavily.
Emergency services attended and the street was closed to traffic for over an hour.
The women were taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital and are both in a stable condition.
The driver is assisting police with their investigation.
