Mark McGowan quote about running and kebabs makes it to Eastern States jumper
WA’s borders might be closed but an eye-catching jumper immortalising Mark McGowan’s infamous COVID-19 kebab phrase has managed to evade restrictions to reach fans in the Eastern States.
Federal Labor leader Anthony Albanese found a woman wearing one of the jumpers emblazoned with the words “there’s nothing unlawful about going for a run and having a kebab” at a footy game in Marrickville, Sydney.
The jumpers are made by WA textile artist Emma Buswell, 28, who started making them after being stood down from her job because of the pandemic. She sold them for $100 online before they sold out. Mr McGowan coined the phrase at a press conference earlier this year when asked if West Australians would be fined for going for a jog and sitting down to eat a kebab as had happened to a man in NSW.
