Joondalup Health Campus nurse named Graduate Nurse of the Year at WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards
SHE’S an “amazing new talent” according to the Joondalup Health Campus surgeons who work with her.
And Amber Murphy’s skill as a registered nurse, just one year out of university, earned her the title of Graduate Nurse of the Year at the WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards last Saturday.
The 25-year-old Aveley resident was a joint winner of the accolade, and said she was “extremely honoured”.
“I wasn’t expecting to win, so it came as a shock,” she said.
“I love what I do, it is very rewarding and it’s a really nice feeling being able to genuinely like your job.”
Ms Murphy has mainly worked as a scrub nurse but has moved between different specialities.
Director of clinical services Ben Irish said Amber was a role model for other graduates.
“She’s a most worthy recipient,” he said.
“We’re very proud of her – she is a deserving winner and a great nurse.”
