Joondalup Art Gallery hosts black and white exhibition
ARTISTS have turned monotone for Joondalup Community Arts Association’s latest exhibition.
The Black and White Collaborative Art Exhibition at Joondalup Art Gallery opened on Tuesday, October 9.
“Artists from across the Joondalup area were invited to take part in the Black and White Collaborative Art Exhibition, currently on display at the Joondalup Art Gallery in Central Walk,” curator Valerie Shaw said.
“The exhibition celebrates artists’ diversity and creativity, showcasing artworks on paper in black, white and tones of grey and silver.”
Shaw said more than 40 artists explored different materials, concepts and images, contrasts and textures to create more than 80 artworks for the exhibition.
“Works range from portraits, to landscape, animal forms, mythology, abstraction, design, ceramics, sculpture and include the use of graphite, pastel, water, acrylic and oil paint, mixed media, pouring techniques, collage, printmaking, photo-media, Zentangle, metal and clay,” she said.
The exhibition will run until October 26 and there will be a celebration at the gallery on Sunday, October 14, from 2pm to 5pm.
Entry to the celebration will cost $10 for adults and $5 for children. Visitors are asked to dress in black and white.
The exhibition will be open between 10am and 2pm on Tuesdays to Thursdays, from 10.30am to 2.30pm on Fridays, and on October 20 from 10am to 4pm.
