Sydney P-plater caught driving at 142 km/h while watching YouTube
A P-plate driver in Sydney’s south-west has been caught driving more than 62 km/h over the speed limit while using his mobile phone.
Police said they pulled over an 18-year-old man in Catherine Field at around 10.40pm last night.
Officers said the teen, who holds a P1 licence, was driving a Mitsubishi Lancer at an alleged speed of 142 km/h on Camden Valley Way.
The sign posted speed limit was just 80 km/h.
Police also noticed his mobile phone in the car’s centre console was playing YouTube videos.
Officers confiscated and suspended the man’s licence on the spot for six months.
He received an infringement for driving more than 45 km/h over the speed limit which carries a $2435 fine and six demerit points.
The driver was also charged with using a mobile phone when not permitted, carrying a penalty of $337 and five demerit points.
