Police release video of sex assault on girl at park

Police have released CCTV footage of a man suspected of brazenly sexually assaulting a young girl at an Adelaide park.

It shows the suspect pushing two girls aged under four in a pram to and from the scene of the crime at a playground in Blair Athol Reserve.

He was wearing a light-coloured top and dark shorts and is pushing a side-by-side pram.

The 10-year-old victim is from the local Afghan community and the suspect spoke to her in her language in the lead-up to the attack on April 3.

The offender has been described as around 50 years old, of Middle Eastern appearance, with black straight hair and a distinctive fringe.

Detectives have released a computer-generated photofit of the suspect.

Police are hoping the footage will lead them to finding the suspected attacker.

Detective Senior Sergeant Graham Tomkins said: “This was an extremely brazen daylight attack.  The vision shows there were a lot of people in the vicinity of the playground, including passing motorists, who may have had the opportunity to see the man with the pram.”

He added the case had extra urgency because police wanted to ensure the two girls who accompanied the suspect were safe and well.
