Controversial celebrity chef Pete Evans threatens legal action

Controversial celebrity chef Pete Evans has flagged he is planning to take legal action after grabbing headlines for touting health conspiracies.

Dressed in a wetsuit and still dripping wet and puffing after a morning surf, the axed My Kitchen Rules judge addressed what has been a wild few weeks in an Instagram video shared with his 235,000 followers on Wednesday morning.

“A big heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you on Instagram and Facebook who have shared your stories over the last week,” a Evans began.

“I’m sure you have opened a lot of people’s eyes and hearts and minds.

“We are only at the beginning at the moment, we’ve got a long way to go.”

Evans has made headlines recently after sharing conspiracy theories about COVID-19.

He also issued a warning: “I feel like there is going to be some legal action that we are going to be looking at taking place, so stay tuned for that.”

“In the meantime, I will be sharing some beautiful recipes with you all ... and sharing some new podcasts with you as well.”

While he does not specify what legal action he intends to take, he did post to his Instagram page this week a cartoon that took aim at recent media coverage.

Evans recently made headlines when he shared a conspiracy theory about COVID-19, urging his followers to look out for code words that implied “executions” were happening.

The post suggested that if someone reads “Tested Positive for CV” in a media report about a high profile person being diagnosed with the contagious virus, it meant that “they confessed and are taking a deal, their execution will be out of the public eye” and staged as a suicide.

It comes just a day after listeners slammed the Kyle and Jackie O radio show for giving Evans almost 20 minutes of air-time to continue to discuss his strong vaccination views.

The shock jocks did not challenge or debate his statements.

Evans continues to insist that he is not an “anti-vaxxer” but a “pro-choice for medical freedom” advocate who disseminates information on alternative medicine practices.

“I have met so many mothers and their children that they have put their hand on their heart to me and said ‘Hey Pete, my boy or little girl was a healthy, functioning, beautiful child — and they’re still a beautiful child, but something happened’,” he said.

“When they got a shot one day, and within two hours, 12 hours or 24-48 hours, that little boy or girl completely changed their behaviour, completely changed their nature.

“Before everyone’s going ‘shut up Pete Evans’, I believe in vaccines and I believe in safety of vaccines, I think there are amazing vaccines out there, but it doesn’t seem to work for everybody. There seems to be people affected by it.”
