More than 2000 homes without power in outage
More than 2000 homes and businesses in Sydney’s inner west are without electricity due to a power outage affecting multiple suburbs.
Electricity network company AusGrid alerted its customers that the outage, which began about 11.35am, should be restored by 2pm.
Affected suburbs include Summer Hill, Ashfield, Haberfield, Leichardt, Lewisham, Petersham and Croydon.
Around 2200 homes and businesses in total are believed to have been affected by the power outage.
Ausgrid also confirmed that emergency network crews have been sent to area to fix the fault and restore electricity to the suburbs.
A spokesperson for AusGrid told 9News.com.au it is believed the outage was caused by a fault in underground cables.
More to come.
