Galileo Coffee and Kitchen cafes open in Joondalup and Butler

SHOPPERS can now get coffee and meals as well as groceries and lifestyle goods at Home Co centres in the northern suburbs.

Panduka and Pinky Gunawardena opened Galileo Coffee and Kitchen cafes in both the Joondalup and Butler centres in November.

Mr Gunawardena has been in the hospitality industry for more than 20 years, initially running a franchise.

They operated cafes at universities and hospitals before setting up Galileo cafes.

“We are expanding our presence in Perth and expanding our brand Galileo,” Mr Gunawardena said.

They sell salads, focaccias, chicken schnitzel, fish and chips, and curries.

The Joondalup cafe is open from 8.30am to 5pm seven days a week and the Butler cafe is open from 8.30am to 2.30pm daily.

They have employed about six people across the two sites in Home Co centres, which also house spudshed stores.

“I thought it’s a great location given there’s a lot of traffic and it’s great exposure,” Mr Gunawardena said.

“The community needs a good destination to have a great cup of coffee.”
