Darwin venue One Mile Brewery celebrates its fourth birthday
HUNDREDS of beer lovers raised a glass in honour of One Mile Brewery’s birthday celebrations in Winnellie.
What initially started as a hobby has turned into a fully fledged business for Bardy Bayram and Stuart Brown.
Now fours years in, Mr Bayram said their Bar-BQ event was a bit of a no-brainer.
“It’s our fourth birthday, so we’d thought we’d put an event on, and what goes
better than beer and BBQ?”
“We’ve gotten locals together and are using local suppliers to create the event.”
Mr Bayram said word had been spreading quickly since the business opened up its first storefront.
“Having our own location, our own tap room, has made a difference,” he said.
Mr Bayram said they had been working hard to keep up with demand.
“We still work full-time, so it’s a hobby that’s gotten out of control,” he joked.
His business partner, Stuart Brown, said they may consider holding similar events in the future, following yesterday’s successful turnout.

“There has been a lot of work but once we’ve had a couple of days to reflect on it we may be doing it again,” Mr Brown said.
“We’ve always had a slow and steady approach to the business, trying to grow progressively and organically, and it’s working.”
The full day event featured live music, brewery tours, BBQ style food stalls and a jumping castle for kids.
One Mile Brewery is open Thursday and Friday from 5pm till 8pm, as well as on Saturdays from noon to 7.30pm.
Tasting and brewery tours are available upon request.
